Youtube time code striped

Site URL: https://www.konabaptist.church/video-archive-2020-03

I created a video block who's Youtube URL includes starting timecode (&t=5m20s). Square space video block strips the timecode, thought maybe it was the special character, so escaped it with \, that's worse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJKOYDBBNik&t=7m46s is an example, this video will play from the beginning within a video block, and work fine in a browser.

How to start a video at something other than beginning? or not have video block strip URL parameters?

Try using the 'start' parameter instead of 't'

This parameter uses the number of seconds from the start of the video. For example, for the url that you quoted above:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJKOYDBBNik&t=7m46s

Use this instead:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJKOYDBBNik&start=466

Let me know how you get on.

Hi Paul, I'm unable to change the start time for my embedded Youtube video, and I've tried both t and start in the URL. The video is in use as a section background. Any advice?

I'm trying to use a video as a section background from a Youtube link, but need to skip the first 8 seconds of the video.

This isn't possible for background videos as they only support sharing URLs without queries, whereas standard video blocks allow embed codes.

The workaround is to edit the video to remove the first 8 seconds and then upload it again.

Thanks, Paul. Is it possible to use custom CSS to set an embedded video (with the delayed start time) as a section background?
