  1. Hey, I'm trying to add CSS code to allow a video to play/feature in an image block, instead of a photo. I'm not sure how it works, but here's what I've tried so far. Thanks!
  2. Site URL: http://s15.squarespace.com/guitar-kids-a-lesson1 My embedded iframe YouTube videos (with 'start' and 'end' parameters) DO NOT play on MOBILE. // MY FIRST ATTEMPT - Youtube iFrame I used the following YouTube iframe in a code block. <div style="position:relative;padding-top:56.25%; margin-top:0px;"> <iframe width="100%" height="100%" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/x7qfdYyHJ_c?start=285&end=340" frameborder="0" style="position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;" allow="accelerometer; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen> </iframe> </div> This code works great on Desktop! But NOT ON MOBILE (it just bombs out.) From what I can gather, this is a limitation of the YouTube iframe embed functionality, which only works on Desktop when you call start/end parameters. // POSSIBLE SOLUTION - Javascript with Youtube api Step 1: Use javascript/jquery with the YouTube api instead of an iframe, to call the video with the parameters. Step 2: Ensure that when the visitor plays the video a second time (or more), that the video again plays from the intended 'start' position, and not jump to the beginning. // STEP 1 I found this (related) tutorial on Stack Overflow. ...but I don't know how to incorporate this into SquareSpace. What goes in the header, and in the body? How to set the start and end variables? -- // STEP 2 Once Step 1 works for mobile, then my next step would be to ensure when the user watches the segment for a second or third time, that each time the video should again start at the intended 'start' position, and not to jump to the beginning of the video. I found this related tutorial... ...but again, I don't know how to incorporate it into SquareSpace. -- Your help will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards Pierre PW: swallow15_pw
  3. I'm building a Squarespace (most likely Business level) site for a virtual conference next month. How would I be able to easily share a clickthru link for either our nonprofit's Vimeo or YouTube account for attendees to access the livestream videos? They don't need to see the video streams on the Squarespace webpage itself. I just need to know if they could easily click on a link to take them to our Vimeo or YouTube livestream page. The Vimeo or YouTube livestream page will be password protected, if that makes a difference. Ideally, I'm hoping that it could be as simple as "Click below to access the conference's livestream videos", link below, they click on it, and it brings them to our YouTube or Vimeo page where they would then enter the password info. The simpler the better as I've never built a website, let alone needed to build one to link through protected livestreams. Thanks in advance!
  4. When embedding YouTube videos with the Squarespace Video Block, YouTube will display "Related Videos" at the end. How can I disable that?
  5. Site URL: https://popmutations.com Hello! I'm looking to embed our youtube live stream page into our website. We'll have multiple videos going out in succession on youtube and was hoping for one video url on squarespace to view the streams. Not having much luck using the youtube live channel URL (squarespace doesn't pick up as a valid embed link) or iframe embed code (x Frames are blocked). Live Channel URL : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFkKcQTwWdRxbs0uBlTmsWw/live embed code that I tried too... <iframe width="1120" height="620" src="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFkKcQTwWdRxbs0uBlTmsWw/live" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Thanks!
  6. Hello, I am working on a website where I need to add a video from Youtube as a Banner. Everything works fine but the quality of the video in the banner is really low and all pixelated. I'd like those to be at least at 720, better at 1080. How can I fix this? This is the video I am embedding: I've tried with this URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIIJXp-gumY and with this: https://youtu.be/BIIJXp-gumY Thank you!
  7. I’ve found code to embed an entire YouTube channel rather than individual videos on to a webpage. I’ve not been able to figure out if it is possible to embed my YouTube channel in to Squarespace page, how would I do it?
  8. Site URL: https://tuatara-bellflower-py4d.squarespace.com/config/ I have embedded a link to a youtube video for my home page banner. The banner appears correctly in preview but is too wide for the desktop screen (see pic). It is also not cropping correctly in mobile view. Can anyone tell me how I can fix the width in desktop top and mobile view?
  9. Site URL: https://www.konabaptist.church/video-archive-2020-03 I created a video block who's Youtube URL includes starting timecode (&t=5m20s). Square space video block strips the timecode, thought maybe it was the special character, so escaped it with \, that's worse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJKOYDBBNik&t=7m46s is an example, this video will play from the beginning within a video block, and work fine in a browser. How to start a video at something other than beginning? or not have video block strip URL parameters?
  10. Site URL: https://www.seantehdesigner.com/work/twc4th Hi is there a way to force the embedded YouTube video to load at a high quality. My videos have looked terrible and its very frustrating to have to troubleshoot this product I've paid for. I've read this post and tried to remedy: https://forum.squarespace.com/topic/151079-how-do-i-display-background-video-in-hd-only Where some users have successfully done this for Vimeo videos. But I can't fix mine. I can't afford Vimeo Pro (which is required for embedding) and also note that I have a Squarespace personal account which doesn't allow code editing. (Very tight wallet now until I get a job)
  11. Site URL: https://sapphire-mandolin-4na7.squarespace.com/config/ "Unable to locate content" when I'm trying to upload video from Youtube. Any idea? I try with several videos and nothing... Help!
  12. On my YouTube account it offers the ability to connect my website with my YouTube. In order to do so I need to verify I am me. My YouTube is http://www.youtube.com/c/karenramel My squarespace website is: http://www.csmlove.com YOUTUBE INFO: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9008080?visit_id=636992871950556658-4278674791&rd=1 I blindly tried the first method which involved uploading a html file which I did by going to my programming site on squarespace, clicking + LINK and navigating to FILE and uploading the FILE. However clicking the verification link on the page didn't acknowledge its location there. They offer these other methods: METHOD 1:Recommended: HTML tagAdd a meta tag to your site's home page.1. Copy the meta tag below, and paste it into your site's home page. It should go in the section, before the first section. Show me an example 2. Click Verify below. To stay verified, don't remove the meta tag, even after verification succeeds. (I do not know how to add html to a css page area of the header) METHOD 2:HTML file upload Upload an HTML file to your site. (TRIED - no luck) METHOD 3:Domain name provider Sign in to your domain name provider. (TUCOWS is not listed - think thats it) METHOD 4:Google Analytics Use your Google Analytics account. (?) METHOD 5:Google Tag Manager Use your Google Tag Manager account. (?) This site and its css is super new to me - I'm old school html. Please can someone assist?Thank you k
  13. Site URL: https://www.naceramekki.com/ Hi, Does anyone have any experience with bringing livestream to your website. I am looking to livestream classes through my website. Thanks!
  14. Site URL: https://www.thecampbellagency.com/results/women-mainboard/women We are trying to create a page similar to this https://www.thecampbellagency.com/results/women-mainboard/women within our Squarespace site. The feature we are struggling with is finding a way to pull in the Instagram follower count at the bottom left of the gallery for each person. Ideally we'd do this for Instagram & YouTube for each person but are fine with just starting with Instagram. Any assistance would be greatly appreciate.
  15. Site URL: https://jasonwyates.squarespace.com/short-films Hi, I'm putting together a page of video samples. It's a gallery of YouTube videos embedded in a page. (using the "Stacked" design option) For some reason, one of the videos ("Cloyd" - the third one down) is showing up as 4:3 instead of 16:9. Everything else is functioning correctly. Its confusing, because both the original YouTube video, as well as the thumbnail image are 16:9. I even tried using the image editor to re-crop the thumbnail to 16:9 to be sure. Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing? I don't see anything about aspect ratio in either the page gallery settings, or the gallery itself. thanks!
  16. Hi all! I'm trying to embed a playlist from YouTube onto our site. It's simple enough through iframes or the built in Video block to embed a playlist as a player window that is set to play through a playlist. But I want the embed to be a list of all the videos in a playlist, not a player for that playlist. In short, I want to embed something along the lines of what you see here in the right hand column (desktop view): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtF-ZfyeXJceBCYVyarj9Zye8mUQbwcCa (screenshot attached to this message too) Every tutorial I can find it just showing how to do the embedded player for a playlist. Is there a way to do what I'm looking to do? Thanks!
  17. Hello together, one simple question: Will there be an option, where i can upload my videofiles from my own pc? I do not want to have all my videos on my website also showing in youtube.... can anyone help? thx a looooooot!!!
  18. Hi, How do I add a video link but only play it at full resolution and remove the YouTube logo and the up-next videos? I've added a 1080 to Youtube but it plays back on the squarespace site at low res with the nasty youtube logo and up next video list at the end.
  19. Site URL: https://www.beaconex.io/ At one point of time, I setup the banner video to be a link to a youtube video. I then realized that it was not something I wanted so I tried removing the url. I'm unable to remove the url now and it always continues to show this banner video. It won't let me delete the url that shows for the video in the Media section of the Page setting. I just want a background image and not the background video. How do I remove the video? This should be a no-brainer but I'm surprised that this hasn't been addressed. What am I missing?
  20. I am trying to hide the titles of my Youtube video by adding ?showcontrols=0 to the embedded code. Every youtube video I have watched show that this should work but it's not working on squarespace. Any tips on how to hide my videos title and controls? See photo attached for the titles I want to hide. The play button is fine as is. Thanks!
  21. Hi all, Our website (www.statelessdignity.org) has a couple of videos embedded in iFrames on it (one for several months now!), and I've *just* learned that the videos don't display at all in Chrome. I've looked into the problem, and deduced that it's not my computer/browser (I've tried every hack in the book, like enabling Flash and JS, and asked friends to check on their own devices): the videos don't display in Chrome on any device. For me, it instead just shows as a big empty iFrame container/blank space, though at least one friend reported that they saw no blank space when they tried it. So anyway, I've tried researching this and seen a couple others with a similar issue, but their coding hacks (below) also don't seem to solve the problem. ...Considering YouTube is owned by Google—and that the majority of visitors (at least for us) use Chrome—I'm a little shocked that this would be an issue. ...But then again, I've seen other embedded YouTube videos on other sites, so there must be a way! Anyway, the two pages where we're having this issue now are here: https://www.statelessdignity.org/news/2018/9/23/2018-bama-speech (it should show between the second and third paragraphs) https://www.statelessdignity.org/news/2019/12/1/give-the-gift-of-dignity-this-givingtuesday (at the bottom of the blog post, just above the footer) Anyway, here are a couple of the CSS/HTML coding solutions I have tried to no avail. ...Does anyone have any tips for making this work? (And *bonus question*: does anyone have a solution to make the video vertical on the second link (changing the aspect ratio/removing the black space on the sides)? I've also researched this, but again, nothing I found worked.) Here is the first approach I tried: <style> .container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; /* 16:9 */ padding-top: 25px; height: 0; .container { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; } </style> <div class="container" style="text-align: center;"><iframe width="75%" height=75% class="video" src="https://youtube.com/embed/8KS5xbuoNe0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></div> And here is the second: <style> .container { position:relative; padding-bottom:56.25%; padding-top:30px; height:0; overflow:hidden; } .container iframe, .container object, .container embed { position:absolute; top:0; left:0; width:100%; height:100%; } </style> <div class="container" style="text-align: center;"><iframe width="75%" height=75% class="video" src="https://youtube.com/embed/8KS5xbuoNe0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>
  22. I’m looking to customize a grid gallery block on my page. Instead of having the images in the gallery clickthrough to an external page or lightbox as a larger version of the image file, is there a solve to lightbox them with a YouTube video upon click?
  23. site tonetension.com password: erikwiss Question - how do I remove the title frame of the youtube video that appears for a few seconds in the beginning, when the home page is loaded?
  24. I am embedding youtube video playlists onto my website. They are stacked on top of each other. I added some code to make them responsive in mobile and that worked fine. However, on mobile each successive playlist as you go down appears smaller than the one before it. If I reorganize the order of the playlists they change sizes always so that they get smaller as they go down the page. I used the same embed code for all of them just replacing the video source and based on my limited understanding of embed code I feel like the playlists should all be the same size since they are all given the same parameters to interact with the same "container." The code I used is below. I also included a screenshot of the issue on mobile. Can anyone help? <div class="iframe-container"> <style> .iframe-container{ position: relative; width: 100%; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; } .iframe-container iframe{ position: absolute; top:0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; } </style> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="videowebaddress" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  25. Hey guys i'd like to be able to redirect a webpage to another right after a Youtube video embedded in my site ends. Is there a successful way to do this?
