Removing Images that have been uploaded

Hello,

I recently have uploaded images and would like to remove them, probably around 25, before I upload the same images that have been renamed that I'll be using on my site. This is important since many times I'll upload an image and at a later point, edit it and reimport it. And not wanting to confuse the images, deleting the first version from the database permanently is what I'm interested in.

Upvoted this request, because I too have a lot of crap files in my library that just take up unnecessary space. And it makes searching for files to reuse pretty cumbersome, as I have to scroll past a bunch of duplicates and old placeholder images.
