Editing forms - no longer working

Recommended Posts

I am experiencing issues with forms within my products. Under each product on the site I have a form for people to order samples. So when I have new products I copy one that is working and change the form name and default e-mail to weborder@juliantile.com (as this is the e-mail address I created to receive these forms). Starting Today SQUARESAPCE does not save these mods. I contacted them and they say it is because of the custom code I have (my site has universal filter).

Here the conversation:

 https://www.juliantile.com/floor-wall-tile/p/travertino-misty-natural
If you go to the request sample tab you will see this as the name of the form: Travertino Light Natural 3 - and if you send the message it will go to antonio@juliantile.com not to weborder@juliantile.com
I am trying to edit this form, and also the e-mail notification address
But it does not save

(2:31:49 PM) Rocko C.: Ok, what form fields are you trying to edit?
On the request sample form, trying to change "FORM NAME" and on the storage, trying to change the "NOTIFICATION E MAIL ADDRESS"

(2:42:50 PM) Rocko C.: Alright, when I tested the site and placed the site in Safe mode, which disables custom code, it appears that the code is contributing to the issue with the form not saving your edits.

(2:45:55 PM) Rocko C.: I tested with the site and its code active, and without it, and noticed when I trying to save the edits I wasn't able to. After I disabled the custom code, I could save the edits successfully. Updates to the platform can cause a site's custom code to behave differently or break. This means custom code can interfere with your site's behavior or stop working at any time, even if it previously worked or wasn't interfering.

Because of this, we can't ensure that any custom code will be compatible with the platform.

I think you should contact the developers of Universal Filter

Thank you, but still same issue. I contacted Universal Filter developer and he told me this has nothing to deal with the filter. I removed the code for the filter try to edit the forms and still same issue. Tried safe mode but same thing.

Hello,

A recent problem with editing forms is very perplexing. I use the form block very often to gather information for events: name, email, etc. etc.

Squarespace is no longer allowing me to edit the blocks. It only accepts the default block, and I can't edit it. Also, I can't edit the forms I've already created -- edits don't stick.

Squarespace customer support basically gave up on the problem, but they promised yesterday they would do some investigation and get back to me. Is anyone else having this problem?!

Thanks.

I just spoke to support and they told me how to make it work. Here is the info:

When making a change to the Form block, could you try clicking outside of the Form block's settings so that the settings window closes, then click on 'Apply' and then 'Save'?

Could you please take a moment to view the video I created with my personal testing site to verify if you followed those same steps when making the change? https://share.squarespace.com/6quXloKd

When making a change, please click outside of the settings or a different block until the Form block's settings window closes before you click on 'Apply' and then 'Save'.

I think clicking on 'Apply' before closing the Form block's settings window is preventing the changes from being saved.

I did notice that it takes a few clicks to close the settings for the Form block, I'll definitely submit some feedback to our design team regarding this.
