Lost trying to understand how to setup shipping.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I’m helping a friend setting up a SQSP commerce site. He has a store on Etsy with 300 products and would like to have a second store on SQSP to drive more traffic to his products and allow people to pin his jewelry on Pinterest. I designed the site, Imported the products and reviews to SQSP. he is ok with reimporting product periodically, or managing inventory on both stores. I can’t figure out how setup the shipping.

  • We are located in Canada so carrier weight option and real time shipping quote are not possible.
  • On his Etsy store shipping and import fee are free. So when I try to import shipping options to SQSP I get a long list of random options that the client would have to choose at check out.
  • His Products are Jewelry and antiques and sell from $200 to $3,000. All different shapes, weight and size. He says that size and weight are entered in Esty but after importing to SQPS these fields are blank.
  • How does one figure out the shipping cost, the import fee, the insurance on such products? There is too many variables because shipping fees and delivery speed would be different from province, countries etc.

Any one with experience dealing with this and how you managed to solve this with your store?

Any feedback appreciated.

I am in the same situation - I am starting out with my business and the only option for shipping is flat rate or depending on weight but neither take into consideration size of the package or the destination which will drastically change the cost of shipping. I am not sure how we are expected to know that info. It seems that you have to be paying extra for that advanced feature for it to be calculated at time of checkout. Pretty wild with the cost of the basic commerce website being pretty pricey to begin with for new business owners. I hope someone helps out.
