External domain connected but sublinks still showing with squarespace name, how to fix it?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I need help fixing an issue.

I connected my squarespace domain to my godaddy domain

the problem is when I click ANY link on my website (besides the /homepage) it shows the squarespace domain in the address bar not my own domain as pictures below shows... is there an easy fix to this or I will have to manually change ALL links?

The first problem is that the domain is not connected correctly to your website, I see this:

If that's not the problem, then this might solve it:
The reason this is happening is that you may have used the full Squarespace domain for each of the links, this is typically considered bad practice as it forces the page to reload rather than just load the new page. What you'll want to do is change all of the links to just include the URL slug.

I can see it working, and it looks like I was correct about this statement:

You need to change links (for example) from this:

https://flute-paddlefish-shcc.squarespace.com/luxury-doors

to this:

/luxury-doors

On your website you should never be internally linking with external type links.

ya that will give me a lot of work since there is a lot of products inside 😞

Unfortunately so, but hopefully going forward it'll be easier for you.  It's actually much easier to just add the slug rather than the entire link since Squarespace allow you to start typing and then they give you the page title to click to add the link, much easier than copying and pasting the entire page URL!

Good luck!

After I repeated the connection process its taking a long time to finish, is it normal ziggy? the first time was pretty fast. Below a picture of the squarespace domain settings and godaddy records.

It can take up to 72 hours, as stated in the Squarespace settings, though it is often much quicker.

It looks like you have all of the records in Godaddy.

So now I will just have to "fix" all the url slugs in my squarespace site correct?

Can I just download the sitemap.xml and change all the links there and then upload to squarespace?

Hi all,

I already have a domain on godaddy

www.mddm-verified.com

I tried to link it to my squarespace website which I built

It says it is processing

as of now when I type www.mddm-verified.com, it says that this page does not exist.

I tried to do this myself, but looks like I made a big mess.

Please help
