help deleting variants in batch edit please

I am just trying to get my site started - I'm migrating from Etsy. I upgraded from business to commerce strictly because I wanted to do batch edits and now I am getting errors when I delete columns or info from columns "Option Name 2" and Option Value 2". 

I wrongly spent a lot of time deleting these variants today that are in the boxes (I have 200 items). Ideally now I just want Option Value 1 to have sizes Small, Medium Large for each of these items. Deleting rows also leaves me with errors.

Any help would be appreciated!
