Adding Click Through Button to Product Page

Hi all,

I sell wine and I'm wanting to offer people a discounted price if they purchase over a certain number of bottles (i.e 5% for case of 6).  Even though you can add variants of a product (in this case, 6, 12 etc @5%, 8% etc ), this could become particularly confusing for the consumer, say, if they wanted to order 8: the customer would need a combination of two variants (1x6, 2x1) at different price points. 

I thought a nifty way around this issue would be to duplicate the product and create a new multibuy offering (eg. case of 6 @5% off) as a new listing. The the customer can find this 'Case of 6' if they were to use a click-through button from the original product page. 

I have two questions then:

Firstly, is this a far more complicated way around than the variants option currently available?

If it's not entirely crazy, then is this something that can be done?!?
