Building an online archive - which is the best template?

Recommended Posts

I need a site where I can build a large archive with different sections and photos. The sort of thing an online museum would have. Any suggestions on what template would be good for this sort of thing. The nearest one I found was an online shop but that wasn't really suitable.

Hi @cardiffmh

There are two schools of thought on this:

7.0 - Brine templates
and
7.1 - Just about any template

Many professional Squarespace designers use Brine family templates for their scaffolding because of its inherent flexibility. Building a museum-style site from the ground up - think metmuseum.org and the like - are custom jobs or in-house staff; but they can be simulated almost exactly using Brine. It's just a matter of learning how slideshows and galleries work, then building your content around your images.

Good luck, and feel free to reach out with any questions!
