Transfer External Domain at Network Solutions

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have build my replacement site on SquareSpace and I am ready to transfer my domain. So, to be clear, I purchased the domain through Network Solutions and they maintain were the DNS is pointing and I renew my domain names through them. My current site is hosted by InMotion Hosting. So my view of things is that my web site will not be hosted by SquareSpace and I need to point the DNS to Squarespace and need a Name Server names (NS1 & NS2) which I cannot find anywhere on Squarespace's help text. However, I get the impression that Squarespace is thinking I will transfer the management of my Domain to them and that I will then pay Squarespace for renewals, etc. Is this true? Is it possible to let Network Solutions handle my domain and just point the DNS to Squarespace?

You can either transfer or point your domain name. If you transfer, then you would then be paying Squarespace for renewals.  If you point your domain name, then you pay the service provider that you pointing your domain from (e.g. InMotion or Network Solutions).

Responding for future reference on pointing domain name from InMotion Hosting to a Squarespace site: This can be done from the CPanel. Log in to your Cpanel > go to the Domains section > select Domains > select Modify the Zones  and you'll see where you can edit the records based on the instructions Squarespace provides. Mine was up within 24 hours of making the changes.
