Remove Thumbnail Image as Banner in Blog

Whenever I do a blog post, it places the thumbnail image above the blog post as a banner and I cannot figure out how to remove it. This is a problem because I want the thumbnail image displayed in summary posts throughout the site and not as a banner above the blog.
