The issue is that SEO guides are pretty clear about how URLs affect the ranking of a site. The fewer layers between the domain and the keywords in the blog article's URL, the better. This is almost a deal-breaker. Redirects are not a good alternative, as search engines also realize they're being redirected and count this against the page.
