1918 Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 I am trying to create a CNAME so that: example.com goes to --> www.example.com The Edit DNS UI does not support an apex (@) record nor can I leave the host field blank. Other DNS systems would allow for entering the root domain name in the host field (example.com) but it seems Squarespace already assumes/includes the root domain for any value you enter. Although not ideal, I tried to setup a domain forwarding / redirect and using (@) and it also generates an error. I can't seem to find a way to contact Squarespace directly for help on domain/DNS issues. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have been fighting this exact same issue for a month. They told me to have the "WWW" switch turned on and it would automatically redirect. It doesn't. Team 1
kristinrussellslp Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Any updates on this issue? I have tried to create a CNAME record using the root "@" in the host field but returns the following error: "We were unable to save this record due to conflicting CNAME records." It's crazy that you can only add a CNAME record with WWW.
Solution Elijah_Gagne Posted July 22 Solution Posted July 22 I think I've found the solution. By DNS rules, CNAMEs can not be used for the root of a domain. But Squarespace let's you create an "ALIAS" that works like a CNAME to accomplish the same effect.
