Links to buttons possible?

Recommended Posts

Site URL: http://www.playlistsforall.com

This may be addressed elsewhere, but I have found it if it is.  My SQSP-created site lists musical playlists I've created.  Originally, all of my playlists were done on Spotify, but as more people have followed me as a source, I've branched out to Apple Music and YouTube Music as well.  My site, however, only has my original links to my Spotify playlists.

How can I do one of two things to add the other links as well?

My first thought is that when a viewer clicks on the image/title of one of my lists, that would bring up a dialog popup with three buttons to choose from: Spotify, Apple, and YouTube.  Depending on which button they clicked, the link to my playlist on that service would open in a new window.

My second thought would be to have a popup show up when they FIRST visit my site and have them choose which music service they use... that would take them to the Spotify site, Apple site, or YouTube site with all of the proper links already embedded in the images/texts.  This one I think I can do myself, but it requires essentially building three identical sites (identical with the exception of the links).

Thoughts? Guidance? Thank you!!!

If you're on 7.0 an option would be to use Landing Pages!

If you're on 7.1, you'll likely end up needing some custom CSS/Javascript installed to make a popup widget the way I think you're imagining it. A work around is to have each playlist link to a landing page style page (no header/footer) just links to the platform. You would make these pages hidden from the main navigation for each playlist.

Again, the simplest option in theory, having a user select which platform they use FIRST is actually likely the most complicated one. You'd need to identify all playlists and add all three links to each button, then install some script to remove the links the user did NOT select. The work around for this of course, is to make a landing page style home page, and duplicate the entire site, 3 times, or for each platform and have the buttons on that landing page direct them to the correct "copy" of the site.

If that makes any sense at all. Lol
