Google Workspace

Hi Guys

We've been using Squarespace for nearly 2 years. Suddenly, we have been hounded by Google telling us that our "Free" introductory period for Google Workspace has expired. Our email has been suspended until we put in our credentials and should contact our administrator. We are a small company of just 4 people and don't have an administrator. We didn't ask for a Google Workspace. We are very confused about why this is happening. It looks like we are going to have a pay an additional £4.60 per month but what is that for? What do we get for having a Google Workspace - something we haven't had before and didn't miss it. Do we have to have a Google Workspace or can we get around it some way? The "help" pages are no help because they are so confusing and don't actually explain what a Google Workspace is or why we might want one! Any help gratefully received.
