transferring domain (not content)

Hi I've already paid up for my Squarespace site and designed it (using a template). I currently have a Wordpress site (hosted by iPage) which I'm moving on from but I would like to use my old domain name (though I have no need to import anything else from my old site).

Could anyone give me a few pointers on how to move my old domain (but not any content) to my new Squarespace site? I haven't actually published the Squarespace site yet.

I'm at the same spot right now and from what I understand, transferring only transfers the domain name and connects that to your new site you've built on Squarespace.  There are a lot of good clear youtube tutorials on how to do this.  

I'm wondering what happens to the content of the old website...
