Creating code for a solid color background behind a text block

Does anyone know how to make a text box filled with a color or to add a vertical dividing line between to columns to break up the space? thank you!

Hi Which is the text box you are mentioning about?

If you scroll down on this page on the bottom right, the one that says teaching style to make it stand out against the text box next to it
