Moving an image into text block - used to work?

I am trying to move an image like I have done in the attached.  I have done this many times in the past.  However, now when I try to drag the image around to move it left / right or to add a new one, something goes awry.  The text becomes one LONG vertical line, and I cannot position the image inline with the text.    See below.

This is happening in Chrome on a MacBook, if that matter.

This is what I am getting today (when I click to drag that image, it immediately shifts the text into a vertical line down the left side of the editing window):

Do you use any custom code? Can you try remove them? If it still doesn't work, try save & share link to page where you have problem. We can take a look
