Slideshow autoplay flickering in 7.1

Hi, 

I like the idea of a landing page which autoplays some photos. I'm able to set up the gallery and the autoplay. However, when I load the webpage on a new tab, I notice the picture flickers or stutters before transitioning. 

Any idea how to remedy this? Should I try just loading a video of the slideshow as the background instead?

As a follow-up. I've found the autoplay option was not only glitchy, but disrupted navigation. Perhaps sometime in the future, this will be remedied. However, for now I am just going to try and go the video route.
