selecting categories when creating post

When creating a post and selecting categories, I do not see a list to choose from.  Have to type in a letter that may match a category for it to pop up to select.  Am I missing something?  We will have multiple users creating posts and hate to have to give them a, gasp, paper list to know what categories are  available  to select..
