transparent header with link modification

Hello,

I have a transparent header in the Rivoli template with an image behind it that I like, but the links, on the right side are impossible to see. Is there some way to leave it as is but have a highlight colour behind the links or make the header background area a little lighter so the other elements stand out more? I tried doing this but it affected the image as a whole (continued in the following block).
