Uploading linked images to function as 'ads'

Hi there

I'm setting up my first Squarespace site for my hobby which is exploring pubs. It will mostly act as a blog, but it's also going to have a small commerce element, as I plan to sell tickets to my walking tours.

Anyway I would also like to host some 'banner ads' on the site, as I am friends with some pub landlords who would be keen to pay me for an advertising feature. These will be very specific ads, with the content provided to me by a small select group of pubs. My questions are:

1. Is this allowed by Squarespace?

2. What's the best way to do it? I had a look at Google AdSense but that seems wrong for what I want. Could I just upload banner images to my site, and set them to have a link to the advertiser's website?

Yes, linked images is the simplest approach to go about it.

Google Adsense does have the feature you need. It is the more sophisticated approach with additional data points.
