in addition to hiding the product when it gets sold out i also want to hide all the variants of that item

Site URL: https://gopher-iris-awjs.squarespace.com similar to this solution but i also want the whole item including the variants to be hidden as well. when it gets sold. because the variants are just essentially how the costumer wants the item to be customized. i looked at the code in the solution hoping to just be able to alter it myself to fit my needs but i don't understand it.
