Can you collect additional fields on the Member Areas sign up form

Hi All, I am building a Members Area for a client and part of their member subscription includes a printed magazine. Is there any way an additional field can be added to the Member Areas sign up form. And would the Members Area data base display this address? Thanks for you help.
