Not sure why people who want to use the esc key couldn't just continue to use it and others just leave it "switched off" - incredibly frustrating experience to just remove features with no notice.
Squarespace continues to make baffling decisions. I have around 150 pages so when I land on one I need to edit I simply just hit the esc key. Now I have to login and find it again. Really bad and time consuming experience. And totally unnecessary.
I also had to google how to login to a website I've owned for 10 years because no email was sent about this in advance. Massive dislike of this move.

It's installed via copy/pasting code into the header code injection (so Squarespace business plan is required), you can adjust the look within the code, it's not too difficult. For setting up on a portfolio page you'll need to go through and add the tags/categories via the SEO description.
This link I shared had lots of details as well as FAQs that should answer more questions.
You can pay for installation via Squarewebsites but I don't know what they charge, alternatively you can find someone who can help with the installation.

    Please see Page Edit Keys.
    Synopsis
Activate Squarespace editor using a key sequence.
I don't know if my code fully replicates how SS's escape key function worked. Obviously I can't compare the behaviour of SS's code to mine.
I suggest not using the Escape key alone but use it with a modifier key such as alt/option, control, and/or command/meta keys. Site visitors are probably less likely to hit a multi-key combo and get dumped into the SS account login screen than if just the escape key is pressed.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi, not much clear instruction around this at all so hoping someone can help!

A page on our website isn't appearing on Google. When I run it though Google Search Console it says the page couldn't be indexed because of a noindex meta tag that SquareSpace (seemingly randomly) place on some webpages, according to my research.
Has anyone had the same issue and found a solution? Or can anyone advise me what the best course of action is to remove this? There's no code reflecting this in the custom CSS or code injection for the page.

    Many thanks in advance,

I am also frustrated that this is gone. I just learned of it today. It was much more convenient to edit a site quickly.

Does anyone know why Squarespace removed the Esc key login? That's how I have told ALL my clients how to easily login, because sending them different login links is too tough for them (trust me). Why would they remove that feature? I just noticed it today. It looks like this link was posted this morning:

*annoying.  I had assumed I had missed the memo.

I use this function daily to amend websites - approx 16 sites & 18 domains.  What a pain that this feature has been removed.

I've used Squarespace for 16 years and the Esc key log in was very handy when I needed to log in to edit a particular post or page. Wondering if there is a workaround.  Frustrating that there was no communication of the change.
