Pointing domain to IP address, not sure done right, need help

I got an IP address from my host which is Bluehost. they asked me to contact my domain registrar which is now Squarespace. I found instructions on how to do this. one of the instructions was to delete Squarespace defaults. At the top of the DNS page there was a box with multiple codes which I delete thinking that was the defaults. below there was remaining custom records and google records. At the end of the instructions, it suggested opening a new window and the site should work. I get an error message saying - 'error establishing a database connection'. This is my main point of contact for my website. I am wondering if I did things right and it simply takes a day or two for things to work or perhaps I did something wrong. I did send an email to Squarespace as well but haven't heard back from them. I hope this is clean enough and someone can guide me further.
