Can't use hash key in Text section

I'm trying to add a hash into a text section of my site but it keeps changing to No, expecting me to put a number after it (No7 etc.). Is there a way to circumvent this? I'm trying to put in a plaintext hashtag with no linking, but it wont allow me. Copy and Paste doesn't work either.

Not sure if you ever figured it out, but I had this same issue and realized it was the font itself (Orpheus Pro) that was styling the # as a No. Here's how I got around it:
