Size of slideshow block

Is there a method to limit the height of a slideshow block in a blog to fit the screen? 

I have multiple slideshow blocks on multiple pages. in some the images are landscape-oriented, in some - portrait. Some portrait images fit the screen width, with height of some extending  to 2 and more screen heights, so one has to scroll through an image. Is there a way to limit the height of the slideshow element to fit the screen height, regardless of the image orientation in it? (and fit the image to the block size of course)
