How to move up large image on homepage to fit snuggly behind header

Hi all, My blog is www.millietothemoon.com. I'm working on inputting a large image on the homepage of my site, but running into an issue. If I input the image *under* my header, I can't figure out how to get the header to be transparent in such a way that overlays that image. I tried to set the header as dynamic, and that didn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this? The closest I got was adding the image WITHIN the header, but that messed with my navigation on mobile and I don't want the image on every page. Appreciate the help!
