Adding more detailed Amazon “Buy Now” button

I want to keep the christmas tree background but also want to make the text easier to read, and I think a transparent grayish colored box would help with that. Thanks!

I tried injecting this (after adding in the link to my image) and it doesn't change anything. For clarification, I'm going to "Design" then "Custom CSS" and pasting it there. Am I doing something wrong? -

I found a few answers on the forum but they didn't work when I did Custom CSS and added the code to my site. I'd also like to be able to change the transparency of the image after I add it. Thanks!
