  1. Hi Squarespace community!

We're currently in the process of expanding our product range and optimising our website for a better user experience. As part of this effort, we've introduced subcategories to help our users easily navigate through our products.

However, we've identified an opportunity for improvement and would love some advice from the community. Is it possible to configure our sidebar menu to open subcategories on hover instead of requiring a click? This change could streamline the browsing experience for our customers, allowing them to quickly access the categories they're interested in without the extra step of clicking.

We understand that this approach may not be suitable for every website, but we're exploring the idea of adding a slight delay to the hover effect to mitigate any potential issues. We're eager to hear your thoughts and suggestions on how we can achieve this customisation.

Thank you in advance for your help!

  2. Hi @colin.irwin, thanks for your insight. However, I still think this could help our user experience since you do not have to move to another page. I understand the hover effect does not work on touch devices but that would not be a matter. Our analytics does show half of our customers still use computers to purchase our products!

I've seen some websites where they would put delay in hover effect that wouldn't make it too annoying for users to interact with.

Any basic CSS would be very helpful!

  3. Hi Becca @inside_the_square,

I'd like to seek your advice regarding a UX hover effect. As we've been expanding the number of products on our website and adding more categories, we're looking for a way to enhance the user experience by allowing users to expand a category simply by hovering over it with their mouse.

Currently, we've implemented a hover effect that changes the background colour of the category when hovered over, but we're interested in taking it a step further by enabling users to open the entire category page directly from the hover action.

Any insights or suggestions on how we can achieve this through custom CSS would be greatly appreciated. Your assistance could greatly enhance the UX of our website!

Here's the link to our website for reference: https://www.soju.com.au/

Thanks in advance for your help!

  4. Hi Squarespace community,

We've encountered a bug on all our product pages that need some assistance with. Currently, when a user hovers over a product image (whether it's the thumbnail or secondary image), all the product images on the page, zoom in simultaneously. It appears that when the mouse is moved, the selected image follows the mouse movement, but the other images remain zoomed in until the mouse is no longer hovering over any of the images.

We're looking for a solution to fix a bug. Any guidance or suggestions on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated!

  5. Hi @creedon,

Thanks for your fast response! I didn't know they had the subcategory section in the store settings! Great. I just added an example subcategory 'Beer' in the main category 'Beyond Soju' and at least in functionality, it's working fine. However, would there be a way, when our customer hovers a mouse on our category 'Beyond Soju', it automatically opens the subcategory lists?

  6. Hi!

I am expanding my website by adding more products! I have over 100+ new products to be added and how should I make it easy for our customers to find the products they wanted? Luckily, I've found a sidebar in 'Categories Type' but we needed more than just showing main categories. For example, we are specialising in selling soju and we divided our products into two categories right now:

    All Soju

    Beyond Soju

However, we want to add subcategories from the 'Beyond Soju' and be able to expand the list of subcategory section in our sidebar. Would this be possible with Squarespace by just injecting some html/css? And if so, I was wondering if anyone has a basic code if I could inject.

  7. Hi Squarespace community!

While I was uploading an extensive information for one of our product, we've realised there's a small gap between photos we have been uploading. The photos were uploaded vertically in 'additional info' section of the product. Do I have to inject CSS code to custom CSS setting? If you could help out, that would be grateful.

  8. Hi,

I recently had a problem with Squarespace's email flow function. Our team receives an 'Order Confirmation' email and that's how they pack and ship our products. However, last week one of the order confirmation email did not get sent to us but only to my personal account. Just once!

This has caused for 7-day delay which has harmed our relationship with VIP customer! Does anyone know what causes a problem like this?

  9. Hi Squarespace lovers,

I am having some issues with gif logo that cannot be shown on my order prints and when I share the link to others for example, on social media platforms like Insta messaging....

I was wondering if there is a way to show stationary logo for sharing, and for prints but on the website, I would still have logo to be gif! or creating thumbnail for gif....

If you have a solution please share it with us!
