Thank you! This solution worked perfectly. I didn't want it site wide, so added it only to the header code for the pages i did.
I did look at this plugin but wanted to see if i could achieve the filter with SS itself.

Alternatively you could add filters to the portfolio page with this plugin (it's an affiliate link, but a plugin that I use regularly and paid for)
