Jamie K 12 Share Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) Hi team, I want to build a cinematography site for myself pretty much like this:http://www.adamscarth.co.uk/ Revolving image on the home page Categorised pages at the top, underneath the title Each category page containing various images/projects which when you click on bring up a linked Vimeo video file on a new page I just don't want to waste my time trying to build this in a template that can't do it. I already tried in Wexley but for the life of me couldn't work it out! Any advice appreciated - thanks so much, Jamie Edited October 23, 2015 by Jamie K Link to post
Guest Solution Share Posted October 23, 2015 You can try out OM, Native, or Montauk. Those all have the ability to create a site like you requested. Roger A.Squarespace SpecialistLet us handle your Squarespace updates each month Link to post
sssupers 2,470 Share Posted October 24, 2015 (edited) Hi there, infact, only Montauk (and it's cloned children Julia and Om) combines centered navigation with the use of an index grid. You'd have to fiddle how to hide the overview grid below the selected item of the index and it might be quite a challenge to display the tags and categories. You may like our famous homemade template picker - watch out for 'index'-features.Best regards - sss* Edited October 24, 2015 by sssuperguy hoo "Yes the preview window expanding randomly is annoying isn't it? Jamie K 12 Author Share Posted October 24, 2015 Okay, so I'm struggling along with NATIVE: https://jamie-kennerley.squarespace.com If you go to the FACTUAL page of my site, I just want to have nice clean images there that then click onto a new page with the video on it. Currently I have thumbnails with the ugly PLAY arrow on, which then click through to FULL PAGE video playing, which is way too big. I also can't figure out how to have any text underneath each thumbnail. It's obviously just the way I'm doing it, I do know that. I basically want exactly like this: http://www.adamscarth.co.uk/albums/promos/ Nice WIDE site, 3 DECENT-SIZE images per line, with text underneath, and then click through to the video (at a controllable size, like around 800 pixels wide). Is this possible? Once I pick a gallery I don't seem to then be able to configure it to give me the above, plus there's no control over the size the video plays in the next screen - it's going full screen and I want it to play still within the white site. I don't mind starting from scratch at all. Just want to make sure I'm picking the right things. Another reference is my friend's site here: http://www.neirinjones.lighting/which I KNOW is a Squarespace site, and might be easier to configure? He has the videos playing within the same page at the top, which I think is pretty nice also. Thanks! Jamie Link to post
smetzger151 0 Share Posted January 13, 2017 Hey Jamie, What template are you currently using? I really like your site's design right now! Thanks a lot! -Steve Link to post
eryn 0 Share Posted April 21, 2017 Jamie, Are you able to ask Neirin Jones what template he used? His site is really great! I'm having problems finding a good template for video on SquareSpace as well, but I love the platform – For me, it's far better than Wix or Wordpress. Just having a hard time sharing a portfolio of video work that is easily navigable and has text with each project as well. I've had some luck with Avenue and Artesia, but they've only gotten me so far and now I'm stuck. E Photographer and Video Agency Consultant Link to post
