TannerG Posted Saturday at 01:03 AM Posted Saturday at 01:03 AM Hi everyone, I’m reaching out to share a frustrating issue I’m experiencing with a domain I own, which was impacted by the recent transition from Google Domains to Squarespace. If anyone has advice or has been through something similar, I’d greatly appreciate your input. Here’s the situation: I recently purchased a new domain through Google Domains and expected to manage it through their platform. However, after Google sold its domains service to Squarespace, I was informed that management of my domain had been transferred to Squarespace. When I log into my Google account, it directs me to Squarespace for domain management. The problem is that my domain does not appear in my Squarespace domains dashboard, leaving me unable to access or manage it. I’ve tried multiple approaches to resolve this, but nothing has worked so far. This has left me stuck between two platforms with no way to take action on my domain. Steps I’ve Taken So Far: Checked Google Domains: When I log into my Google Domains account, it clearly states that the domain is now managed by Squarespace. It provides no option to make changes on Google’s side. Logged into Squarespace: Using the email address associated with my Google account, I logged into Squarespace, but the domain is missing from the domains dashboard. Contacted Squarespace Support: I’ve reached out to Squarespace through their available support channels, including submitting tickets and attempting live chat. Unfortunately, I’ve received no response or help. Reviewed Transition Emails: I’ve combed through emails from both Google and Squarespace about the transfer process. While they confirm the transition, there are no instructions that address this specific issue. Current Challenges: I cannot manage my domain or make necessary updates. The domain doesn’t appear in Squarespace, even though Google indicates it should. Both platforms direct me to the other without offering a resolution. Squarespace’s lack of support has made it impossible to escalate the issue. (absolute GARBAGE customer service) Squarespace’s Customer Service Challenges One of the biggest hurdles I’ve faced in resolving this issue is the lack of effective customer service from Squarespace. Here’s what I’ve observed: Limited Contact Options: Squarespace does not offer phone support, which makes it impossible to get real-time assistance for urgent issues. Their chatbot provides only generic responses and doesn’t effectively escalate complex problems to human representatives. Inconsistent Live Chat Availability: While Squarespace claims to offer live chat for some plans, it’s not available 24/7, and many users report being unable to access it altogether. Delayed or No Responses: I’ve submitted tickets and waited weeks with no acknowledgment or resolution. For critical situations like domain management, this is incredibly frustrating and disruptive. Reliance on Self-Service: Squarespace heavily leans on its Help Center, which is useful for simple issues but doesn’t address unique or complex problems like mine. Domain Transition Complications: The Google Domains acquisition has added layers of complexity. Many users are experiencing similar problems with transferred domains, and Squarespace’s support has not scaled to meet this demand. For users like me, these shortcomings create the impression of having virtually no customer service. The lack of direct communication options, delayed responses, and reliance on automated systems make it incredibly difficult to resolve pressing issues. What I Need I’m hoping someone here might know a workaround or has dealt with a similar issue. I need to regain access to my domain and the ability to manage it. Next Steps I’m Considering Persistently contacting Squarespace support and following up until I get a response. Reaching out to community forums or support groups for insights. Legal Action This situation has been frustrating, especially because it’s a new domain that I was planning to use for important projects. Having it effectively trapped in limbo between two platforms feels avoidable, but I’m unsure what else to do at this point. If anyone has any advice, similar experiences, or suggestions for resolving this, I’d be incredibly grateful for your help. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to any guidance you might have! Best regards, Tanner
