blumarble Posted Friday at 02:17 PM Posted Friday at 02:17 PM After several years of having a website, I've just recently discovered and been taking a more detailed look at "Assets Library". I'm finding that every version of every image that I've ever uploaded is listed and there are about three times as many images in the Asset Library as the images that are actually available on my website. In other words, about two-thirds of the images are ones that I've deleted or replaced with edited versions. I'd like to delete those images that are no longer in use; most, if not all, will never be used again on the website. On my gallery web pages it doesn't seem that I can determine the name of a particular image file that's is in use. In the "Asset Library" there doesn't seem to be a way to readily determine the status of images in use on my gallery pages. I need to know which are currently "published" and available for viewing; and which are deleted, replaced, or just in "draft" status. It doesn't appear that if I mistakenly try to delete an image that is in "published" status I will receive a warning of some kind. Also, if I click on the three dots and "file details" for an image then "back", the sort filter and order is reset to "newest" and the position has returned to the top of the list. And it seems I can't open the image "file details" in a new browser window. So I have to reset these parameters and scroll to my previous position every time. This doesn't help and is really annoying and time consuming. As it is, it seems I can only achieve what I'm trying to do through a tedious and time consuming process of back-and-forth in my gallery pages, asset library list, and individual image info pages; and then I see a lot of potential for errors, deleting the wrong images, etc. Is there some resource video or page that would help me to better understand and manage the images stored on the server for my website and listed in the Asset Library? How can I develop a strategy for determining image status -- those that are actually displayed on my website versus those no longer in use -- so that I can readily remove unused and outdated images? Thank You.

The good news is that having images in your Asset Library does not affect site performance or the cost of your subscription, so it's fine to leave all those unused images there until Squarespace provide us with a way to flag those that aren't in use.
