Moved from SS to third party and need help updating DNS records

I purchased my domain through Google (Squarespace) but transferred the domain to Wordpress (also hosting on Wordpress) before beginning to build my site. I'm stuck at getting my SSL Certificate. It says " This domain does not resolve to WordPress.com. Please update the DNS settings to WordPress.com." In the help guide on Wordpress, it says that I should update my DNS records through Squarespace, but I do not have that option in Squarespace, which appears to mean that my domain is connected via DNS connect and I should update my records on my domain provider's end. 

I'm new to this, but does this mean that I should update my DNS records through WordPress even though WordPress tells me to go through my provider and I originally purchased the domain through Squarespace? I want to make sure I update the right thing in the right place before making any changes, especially because I am currently utilizing my email address through my domain and don't want to lose access to that.
