Jojodwolf Posted November 22 Posted November 22 Okay.... so I am in the midst of building a new site. Mine was built by myself more that 15 years ago with Netobjects Fusion. I will say that website has served me well... even to this day. First I was looking at Wordpress, next pay someone to start a Wordpress site and I would take it from there and now I discovered Squarespace might be a good fit. To start I am looking at the plans. My site is custom made furniture. I don't do any ecommerce and have no plan to. It's basically a gallery site where people contact me to discuss having a piece built. I looked at the basic plan and chatted with a rep from squarespace and he thought that was a fine choice. I am looking for reasons why it's not good enough. I need lots of options like the templates to get going. But I like simple with limited bells and whistles. I don't need moving images. Just clean and not a TV commercial. So basic plan? I already have another question on one of my pages to be but I will hold off on that for now... Thanks

Hi @Jojodwolf Will you be pretty much replicating the functionality on your existing/old website? If you can share your URL, then it gives me a better idea of what your website functionality is like, and be able to offer my recommendation on which plan is best for your website. 43 minutes ago, Jojodwolf said: I need lots of options like the templates to get going. But I like simple with limited bells and whistles. In terms of templates, although there are indeed lots of templated designs from Squarespace to choose from, I want to point out that you cannot switch templates after starting a website. This is because you can actually recreate one template design to another just by using the built-in functionality such as, Site Styles, blocks, layouts. Although you can of course start as many websites as you want from another template. This will be from scratch, so any changes you made won't be transferred over. I wouldn't say it's a bad or a good thing, but it is different to other website builders that offer the ability to switch templates, so it is worth pointing out. -------- > 👆 <---------- Please quote or @ me when replying, or I won't get a notification Melody | Squarespace Nerd 💻 💁♀️ 1-2-1 Squarespace Training session <- feeling stuck and want to learn? 👩💻 💁♀️ Website help <- send me your to-do list.
