M_art Posted November 22 Posted November 22 I'm sure many more people have run into the boundaries of squarespace with given translation features. Squarespace only offers weglot, which in Terms is great because it doesn't require any diffecult coding. Sadly this is currently the only given option to translate your site / make it multi Lingual Let's take my case as an leading example. I am building my own personal site to start selling squarespace design services. I am from the Netherlands and therefore Native in Dutch. Here in the Netherlands the Adults who are 35+ usually don't speak great english. To have an wide reach I would like to also have my site in English so I can service international clients aswell. Translating the pages myself would be easy for me, I am native in dutch and speak english just as good as I can speak dutch. Sadly there isn't an option to create just an tab for more languages and to add in translations yourself. Nowadays with AI making translations is easy and done so quickly, besides AI I could also easily write the translation myself. But with Weglot it would require me to pay for an extra subscription besides the business plan on squarespace which in my eyes is just non-sense. The translation is pretty wack and super overpriced. For an simple site like this, I can't really justify the cost of all the subscriptions for the small feature I request. Besides this case of my own pesonal use for the site. In the Netherlands it quite common to make the site multilingual, how do I explain all the extra costs for the weglot subscriptions? This ''Limit'' of squarespace is quite sad in my eyes and I am sure that many people can relate. I would really like to see an integrated option to use the build out resources and make a translated version of the page manually, without any extra fees. Would greatly appreciate any feedback on this Topic Thanks!

M_art Posted November 22 Author Posted November 22 Yes I have! Technicaly speaking the template could work, there are some parts that don't work great at first with mobile optimalization and the switch language button. But when doing some research that is able to work around. Although I gotta say it can be quite the hassle to use this template. Now I personally have coding experience, that makes it easier for me to implement an manual coding solution like this. But the majority of squarespace users won't, that is also part of the reason why a group of people chose squarespace over other website building engines. The issue I want to adress is that I think that this ''Limit'' you run into with this problem can be easily solved with an option to use the resources from an page you build out, and create an translated version of that page with those resources. Lot's of people could easily do the translation themselves and would only need an easier function to create the pages for the different translations.

I understand but, as this is a peer-to-peer (customer-to-customer) forum, Squarespace teams aren't routinely monitoring it for feedback or feature requests (see the guidelines - item 7). You can make a feature request by contacting Customer Support 🙂. Edited November 22 by paul2009 Me: I'm Paul, a SQSP user for >18 yrs & Circle Leader since 2017.
