Uploading GIF in an Image block - quality problems

I am trying to add a gif to an image block within my portfolio website but the quality of the gif is really bad after successfully uploading and saving it. I did a comparison by embedding the same gif in a code block and the quality there is great. However, I would prefer to not use a code block because it needs more customisation: the embedded gif does not fill the whole code block area and does not adapt responsively when scaling the browser window (which already works perfectly with the image block when setting the image to FILL). 

So is there something I can do to improve the quality of the gif when uploading it to an image block? The gif I used is below 20MB and I tried different versions with less MB but the uploaded quality is always inferior.

The answer to why is that Squarespace compresses images and resizes them for different uses to optimize delivery. The maximum resolution you'll find is 2500px on the long edge, so it may be worth creating your GIF at that resolution rather than the 3368x2245px you currently have as that should change how Squarespace deals with the uploaded GIF image.
