julieled Posted November 1 Posted November 1 So I have a potential client. He has an appliance repair business. He wants a site with an add to cart feature, but he wants to have the customers pay with him separately on another secure server. He's been hacked twice and is nervous. Can he see what the client has in their cart without them checking out through Squarespace?

Can he see what the client has in their cart without them checking out through Squarespace? No. The site owner cannot see users' cart content. It may be possible to find a workaround for them but it will depend on the specifics, so we'll need more information. However, before looking for a workaround, I'd encourage them to trust Stripe and Squarespace if they want to take card payments. Squarespace uses the most up-to-date security protocols and their checkout is fully compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). In case you aren't aware, PCI-DSS compliance is a security standard for companies and organizations that handle payment information from consumers. Squarespace Payments and all of Squarespace’s payment processors, Stripe, PayPal, and Square are compliant with relevant PCI standards. If they can't use the Squarespace checkout, for example because of their location or the type of payment method they require, please share more details of their requirements and what they are trying to achieve. For example: What type of 'products' will customers add? Will they add a single 'product' or multiple products? Which 'secure server' do they want to use? In which country are they? Did this help? julieled Posted November 6 Author Posted November 6 Thank you so much for your input. I will ask my client if he would be interested in me setting him up with a separate form like a 'contact me' form but with drop down fields and a message box where the customer can input the parts they want and my client can work with them one on one. He is very skittish about taking any payments through a website. Again, many thanks for responding!
