Before I professionally embarrass myself... Please will you rip my site to shreds?

I'm a tv professional, and I'm poor so I made my own site with extra bits cobbled together from lovely advice on here and a friend or two I coerced into giving me snatches of code. I wanted the three gallery link blocks to be entirely linked but had to settle for link text as it was beyond me.

Anyway - all thoughts and suggestions for improvements would be very gratefully received!

thanks!

Hello Heather,

I think that sites should always be considered work in progress and ideally within a few seconds, show the first time visitor what is on offer.

As such a visitor I had to read the block a few times to see what you are providing.

If I understand correctly you offer:

  • Hair
  • Makeup
  • Special effects
  • Research
  • Continuity
  • Team management
  • Budget Planning
  • Scheduling

You have such an amazing talent and hiding it under the skills and talents section three down, took me a while to see it.  This section would make an ideal landing/home page.

When I did a copywriting course we had to list services and the critique was 'how many times had I put the word 'I' on the page".  and we had to rewrite with benefits and who were we writing the story for.

Put yourself in your ideal customer's seat, why do they hire you, what made them hire you and what makes them not take you on.
