Redirect old product page to a new one

Hi,

We've made changes to our products to the point that they really need new product page as the names have change and the page address has the old name in it.

I know that if I change the page address in the product table any links that are out there won't work (thinking of google page rankings etc).  If I set up a new product can I make the old one redirect to the new product page?

In URL mappings you would implement rules like:

/old-product-page -> /new-product-page 301 

For a redirect to work the old page must no longer exist. You can add the rule then change the old page's url and unpublish it (if you need it for reference), or you can simply delete the old page. 

Note that sometimes it takes a few minutes for redirects to kick in.
