Product Search Not Working

Anyone having issues with product search not working at all? 

Managing hundreds of products is cumbersome on SS so I rely on the Search functionality at Website>Pages>Shop>AllCategories>SearchItems to find products, or to move new products from the bottom to the top (silly that they put your new stuff at the bottom).

Today, the Search was not working for new products just added. Within an hour, it wasn't working at all.

SS support is zero help, saying it was a cache issue. It is not. I have validated this by trying it on three different browsers (one of which was never used for Squarespace), on my mobile phone browser (also never previously used for Squarespace) and even when accessing through two different internet providers. It is the same in all cases, search does not work.

Is anyone else experiencing this and if yes, any thoughts on a solution? Or maybe you can alert support as well 🙂

Hoping to get this resolved, as it clearly is not a cache issue. Interestingly, they said it used to be a bug and they fixed it. I think when they fixed the bug, they actually created the bug for users like me who never had an issue before today.

Wondering if any others have the problem? Thanks.

P.S. there are numerous products that start with Park, so normally the results would be full (in the attached example screenshot)

Update: in somewhat of a shocking response from Squarespace, while acknowledging that this is a bug now affecting all 7.1 commerce sites, they also said product search may never return, or certainly not in the short term?!?! So they broke something critical yesterday and have no immediate plans to fix it...

In all seriousness, Squarespace should be avoided for any commerce where you may have hundreds (or thousands) of products in your shop.

Anyone ever move to a different platform for their shop? Looking for alternatives as Squarespace is no longer viable for our shop. Any experiences with transitioning off of Squarespace would be welcome. Thank you.

I tested this on some other sites but I wasn't able to reproduce your issue. I was able to search products within the Pages panel and they appeared. Here's an example:

I appreciate that this doesn't help to resolve your specific issue but I hope it helps to know there doesn't appear to be a platform-wide issue.

In terms of troubleshooting, what have you tried? Have you looked for any errors in the browser console? It may help to point you towards possible causes.

Also, have you tried using the other product search function in Products & Services > Products to see if this feature is functioning correctly for you?

Since I posted that, the product search returned BUT it does not include any products that were added to the shop from September 18 onward. However, it does work properly under the Products and Services > Products section, but not in the Website > Pages > Shop section (where I need it for product management purposes)

So apparently the database is not updating for search it seems. See attach images. Products are in the store, but they will not appear in search on that page (where I need to have them in order to re-order items etc., since Squarespace inexplicably places new products at the bottom of the list).

I sent another ticket, but crickets. We add a large number of products, so this issue compounds daily.

Hey @MJB1923, sorry to read the issues you're having with the product search. We've recently launched a search plugin and I'm happy to get you a free license for a while, until Squarespace hopefully resolved the issue.

Monocle isn't purpose built for product search, but I believe it may help out as it works well on my demo site. You can easily try it and just use it if it works for your case. if you want to pick me up on the offer, pop an email to felix@monocle-search.com.
