Adding events to homepage with diary dates linked to Events page

Hi, hoping someone might be able to help.

I've set up an events page for one of the websites I'm working on but I would like the events thumbnails to display on the homepage but still be linked to the Events. 

What I mean is, the thumbnail image for each event with date in the corner (as shown in the picture below) displayed left to right across the webpage, perhaps with some text below. This would ideally be linked to the events page itself.

Is this possible?

I have linked the diary page in question but the thumbnails would ideally appear on the homepage.
