Craftmongers
We are an ecommerce shop selling a variety of products all shapes and sizes in the UK. We are really struggling with getting the shipping calculations to be accurate and tend to lose a lot of money at the post office or end up over charging and risk losing the sale. The problem is everything being calculated based on weight, when in reality the price increase per parcel is due to the measurements of the parcel as well as the weight. There don't seem to be any good enough (that we can find|) extensions for calculating the cost of the parcel using real postage prices in the UK, during the checkout process. Has anyone had a similar problem or found a solution? We are considering switching to shopify as they have better extensions to UK shipping companies. Any help is very much appreciated. paul2009 1 Link to comment

As you've probably discovered, there aren't any automatic or carrier-calculated options for sellers in the UK yet. Also, third party extensions can't calculate delivery/shipping costs in real-time during checkout because of a limitation that Squarespace imposes on third parties - we aren't provided with any access to the checkout, so can only calculate afterwards when it's too late 😢. This means we must set up shipping costs using either a flat rate 😲 or based on weight, which as you mentioned, isn't the full picture. Dimensions matter. If some of your products are extra large or require special shipping arrangements then you may want to look at the fulfillment profile feature as this allows you to specify specific shipping options specific to certain products. That said, the product team at Squarespace are aware of the current limitations for non-US businesses, so I'm hopeful that we'll see improvements in this area in the not too distant future.
