Help: Cart and menu icon appear off the side of the screen in mobile view when accessed from instagram

Hi,

The display of my website within the Instagram browser displays the menu and cart icons way off to the left of screen. This is problematic because 1. Nobody can find the cart to check out, and 2. The website view expands into a white abyss if swiped to the left. All of my customers are funnelled directly from the link in my Instagram bio so this error is really concerning.

I have recorded it in its entirety and the video can be seen here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17yUpGNdKm4RCodINhPEplbeYNm4eEbvZ/view?usp=sharing

This issue does not happen if my website is opened in a mobile browser like Chrome.

I am completely stumped on how to resolve this and I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Thank you in advance,

Blake

In-app browsers like the one in the Instagram app aren't documented in the same way as the supported browsers are, making it difficult to provide a solution or a workaround that will work reliably. Even if they can find the cart, there is no guarantee that they'll be able to check out and pay using the browser.

As an alternative approach, I prefer to add a message to the site when it is being browsed, explaining that users may want to choose a supported browser. Here’s an example. The message is displayed in a yellow box, although you could easily change the colours.

Paul, I appreciate you.

It's a shame that this occurs, but I'm so glad you could offer this solution.

Thanks again,

Blake
