Past Events Still Showing after end time

Hi all.

On my site: https://www.louthriverheadtheatre.com/events
Past events are still showing for 24-48 hours after expiring.

The button for 'show past events' is turned off on the event list settings.
This happens on two different event lists I have on the site.

Any idea what is causing this? I thought at first it might be browser cache, but trying in different browsers, private browsing windows and the old event still shows for a period after it's expired.

If I go into Squarespace settings, the expired event does correctly show as a 'past event', so I don't understand why it's still showing on the front end.

Would appreciate any input please.

Thanks Tuanphan... really appreciate it.
I've added another events list to test on there - events every hour today.

So far it seems to have removed OK, but I'll keep checking.

I see the page has nothing, white blank page, can you check it again?

All those events on that list have now expired.... so it is working on that list!
Just appears to be not working on the other event list, which makes me wonder if it's a conflict with some of the code injection I have on https://www.louthriverheadtheatre.com/events

You can disable some code and check again

I will try checking again in Saturday, 14 Sep

A few weeks ago a member contacted me with the same issue, and it seems to be a time zone difference.

Yep, this event is still showing after it has finished… very strange.

I can't reproduce this on a test site.

It's sometime later on your site, so I don't see any expired events.

I just can't understand why it doesn't go as soon as the event finishes

It should! 🙂

I just tested another site and it is working correctly. I used an event that finished at 1610 today. At 1609 it was still in the 'Upcoming Events' list:

At 1611, it was in the 'Past Events' list:

This was reflected on the live page for visitors too.

Are you currently in the UK and is your site also configured for UK time?

Hi, yep in the UK and regional settings appear OK (screenshot below)

I've set the most recent event so it finishes at 16:50 today... lets see what it does 🙂

OK that event is currently still showing for me - 15 minutes after the end time.

It's still showing for me too. Have you contacted Customer Care about this yet?

It does appear there's a technical issue with your site in particular. They may need to clear the site cache (on their end - not in your browser).

Not yet, I'll do so this morning.

Thanks for looking again Paul.

  • Solution

Just updating this in case anyone stumbles across this thread with the same issue.

Support have told me that:
"Your site is being affected by an issue on our end where past events are sporadically displaying as Upcoming Events."

For now, the workaround for this issue is to temporarily toggle on and off the 'Show past events' tweak to reset it.

Currently there is no exact timeframe for a resolution... but if I notice it's fixed I'll report back here.
