Blog title cannot be edited!

Our Filter button in SS in the blog is not working! I used this to edit the title of each blog. Our blogs have full bleed images with the header over the top and the title hidden. When I unhide the title it does not let me click to change the text as it just highlights the "header" box. 

I did the code a long time ago to make  these pages look the way our company wanted, but I need to be able to change the title for the Portfolio page overlay, using the blog title if not our site is useless!  This seems to just have stopped working recently. I cleared my cache. 

Ideas? Code to help me edit the titles?

Here are some images: There was never the option to do it from the three dots in 7.1  As I said, you used to be able to do it from the FILTER button, but when I click on that button now, nothing happens. 

If I go to the post and make the title visible in the code (it is otherwise hidden) I cannot click on it because the header now blocks it, so there is no way to change it.
