Help Confirming Redirects Are Set Up Properly

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I built a new site and now I need to make sure that the old domain and page links are redirected to the new site. This is the first time I've set up redirects and I was a little confused based on the examples on the SquareSpace knowledgebase because they assumed you were going from the same domain just to another page. Can someone review these and let me know if this correct?

I want to make sure the old domain www.myfacialplastics.com is mapped to the new www.clevelandaestheticscenter.com site.

REDIRECTS:

/www.myfacialplastics.com/cosmetic-services-1 -> /services-overview 301

/www.myfacialplastics.com/rhinoplasty-septoplasty -> /rhinoplasty 301

/www.myfacialplastics.com/blepharoplasty -> /services-overview 301

/www.myfacialplastics.com/cosmetic-facial-rejuvenation -> /non-surgical-facial-rejuvenation 301

/www.myfacialplastics.com/noserhinoplastyseptoplasty -> /otoplasty 301

/www.myfacialplastics.com/facial-trauma -> /facial-trauma-repair 301

/www.myfacialplastics.com/new-page-4 -> /non-surgical-facial-rejuvenation 301

/www.myfacialplastics.com/mohs-skin-cancer-repair -> /skin-cancer-repair-mohs 301

These look correct, but you don't need the leading forward-slash in front of the URL.

You can test by putting the full old URL, and it seems to be working fine.

You don't need the domain name in the redirects. Instead you should connect both domains to your site, making the new clevelandaesthetics domain the primary.  That way anyone trying to access facialplastics.com will be redirected to the new domain.

Then your redirects will look like this

/cosmetic-services-1 -> /services-overview 301
/rhinoplasty-septoplasty -> /rhinoplasty 301
/blepharoplasty -> /services-overview 301
/cosmetic-facial-rejuvenation -> /non-surgical-facial-rejuvenation 301
/noserhinoplastyseptoplasty -> /otoplasty 301
/facial-trauma -> /facial-trauma-repair 301
/new-page-4 -> /non-surgical-facial-rejuvenation 301
/mohs-skin-cancer-repair -> /skin-cancer-repair-mohs 301
