Switch to a .gov domain

Recommended Posts

We have been mandated to change our website and email domains from our current .org to a .gov

I have the domain registered with dotgov.gov and I have cloudflare hosting dns for it.

How do I change my website at squarespace to answer to the new domain and the old domain?  I have heard we can switch to the new domain and forward queries for the old domain to the new domain...I just don't know how to do that in squarespace.

Add the new domain to your Squarespace website by editing the DNS records on CloudFlare to point to Squarespace. See Connecting a third-party domain to your Squarespace Site for details of the records to add.

Once it is working, and the SSL has been issued (automatically) you can then set the Primary Domain to the new one. By leaving the old one connected, it will redirect to the new primary domain automatically.
